underrepresented
student movements at UCLA and the impact they have
had on the complexion,
canon and culture of the University.
Trained as an academic, Ms. Ramas is well versed in research and
scholarly writing. At the same time, as Mia Slavenska’s daughter,
growing up in the ballet world of the 1950s and 1960s allowed her to
experience in an intimate and personal way the artistry of the great
ballet and modern dancers of her mother’s era. She has first-hand
knowledge of Mia Slavenska’s aesthetics and ideas about dance and
movement.
